So here they are! In all their glory!

20 Infantry and a standard bearer, leader and Lewis gunner for the HQ element. I picked up a 2nd banner bearer off of eBay but need to rebase her to match.

I based them last week and added the grass tufts yesterday. Didn't have tweezers on hand but whatever. It works.

I just realised that this is the most I have ever painted in a single year, let alone a 3-4 month period.

The maxim support gun. The loader is propped up on his own washer which is still visible from above so I'll need to fix that. Maybe some more grass tufts?

I added First Corps Miniatures  Austin Armored Car v2 that I picked up sometime in 2016.
Painted black. Lined grey and then washed. Added a wolf howling at the moon transfer from a old Space Wolf transfer sheet. (Actually added 2 but forgot to seal with nail polish and one got damaged and had to be removed). It was my first time using transfers. Luckily a guy at work plays Bloodbowl so he walked me through it.

The other side. Added a mud effect by flicking paint from an old toothbrush. Worked like a charm. Thankfully I finished this up and hopefully the impetus will push me to finishing all of those pesky Copplestone Chinese I bought.

The Bolsheviks are Coming!

Good day all!
Just thought I'd share a quick progress report. I spent about an hour yesterday and another today getting a start on 4 of my Red" Bolsheviks. Just need to be based now.

At 2 hours per week I should have the 20 line troops, 4 command and HMG + 2 crew done in about 6 weeks time if I stick to 4 figures per session.

Something wrong with my phone so can't upload the photo. Disappointed really as I'm pretty proud of them..

Wish I had painted that many of my Chinese Warlord troops that fast. Learning point is my bulk groups were too large

And this Friday is Hotlead 2017 so super excited.

Paths of Glory

This months challenge (due Oct 31) was to paint any two units for my ogre kingdoms army.

SKIN:
I chose Rakarth Flesh  for my skin base coat.
A wash Drakenhof Nightshade to define the details.
A layer of Rakarth Flesh to highlight the raised areas.

METAL:
I used a drybrush of Runefang Steel

LEATHER/WOOD:
I used Mournfang Brown and XV-88 for the leather straps and belts.

I painted three Ironguts (unit 1), three Bulls (unit 2) and my BSB, sort of.

All skin, metal and wood/leathers are completed. Only the pants are left. I kind of like the black pants look but they look very dull. I'm not to sure if I want to proceed with colourful pants because doing the skin took long enough.

Paths of Glory

Despite my utter lack of time for all things hobby related, I entered a campaign called Paths of Glory, in September, down at my local Games Workshop.

Over the next 5 months I have to collect(check) and paint(uh oh) 2000 points worth of my Ogre Kingdoms Army for Warhammer.

The first months challenge was to create a 2000 point list and paint a character. Here's my list:
L: Tyrant, Giant Breaker Big name, Heavy Armour, Dragon Helm, Gold Sigil Sword, Dawnstone 290pts
H: Bruiser, Heavy Armour, BSB, Rune Maw Standard 195pts
H: Butcher, Lvl2 135pts
C:6 Ironguts, Full Command (F/C), Dragonhide Banner 338pts
 C: 8 Ogres, F/C, Ironfists 286pts
 C: 8 Ogres, F/C, Addtnl Hand Weapon 278pts
S: 3 Leadbelchers 129pts
S: 4 Mournfang Cavalry, F/C, Heavy Armour, Ironfists, Warbanner 345pts
TOTAL: 1996pts for 28 foot and 4 mounted Ogres.

Well, I completed my list, but failed to finish my BSB, so only partial points for me.

Hotlead 2012

Well, another year has come and gone.
I was impressed by the number of games being run and the number of attendees.
The 'Bring & Buy" table did not disappoint.

I arrived at 09:00hrs, and stopped by t6he North Bay Hobby table and got some magazines.

Next I began to peruse the B&B table, quickly locating the painted miniatures.

I then meandered around the various tables set up with terrain for gaming.

At 09:20hrs, I stood near the B&B items I wanted to purchase, cash in hand. Luckily no one else had an interest in them at that time.

8 Painted Foundry Pirates, now OOP.
7 Renegade WW1 French painted as FFL
Painted not 'Rick O'Connell'
3 Crusader pirates

Then I spent more time hunting thru the B&B and varied games tables and I picked up some BNIB Battlefield in a Box river expansions - ford, islands, bends, fork, and some styrofoam hills.

I dropped this off in the car and watched some games being played. I left the brochure with the names in my car.

I really wanted to get a game or two in but I had to leave at 11:00hrs as I accidentally double booked myself.

Hotlead 2012

Well, I am excited.
Hotlead is just around the corner.
Stupidly, I double booked myself so I have a physio appointment at 1:30 so hopefully there is a lot of good stuff at the Bring and Buy early...

2011 is over!

Well, the year is over. 2011 was full of change.
I've finally completed my "Workbench" and on December 1st, my wife and I welcomed a new addition to our family.
So sufficient to say my gaming/modeling is in a serious state of hiatus. Yet I've never had the urge to paint more! Weird.
Oh well, the joys of parenthood.

GW new releases

Well I picked up Blood in the Badlands today. 4 days before the initial release.
The guy in my local GW stated that it wasn't marked to be delayed until Dec 3. Suckers!

Warhammer Black Dragon

Well, with the Storm of Magic out, there have been a load of new kits available.
I bit the bullet and bought the Blackdragon complete with Dark Elf General on top.
Built easily and primed black (obviously) excited to get this beast on the table.

GW Finecast

Let me preface this by saying that I quite enjoy GW and their product. Sometimes there are issues but for the most part I am a loyal fan.

I've been following the release of Finecast but hadn't yet gone around to the store.

I went to my local GW this afternoon and meandered around the store and noticed that all the metal blisters were gone.

Now I know GW Finecast resin products are going to replace the metal ones but where did all the metal go? And more importantly, I hope I didn't miss some sort of sale.

I looked at some of the new resin stuff. There was the Imperial Guard Commissar, who looked more like Han Solo frozen in carbonite with all the flash. Most of the others I looked at were pretty decent.

That and the price increase. I thought that part of the reasoning behind switching to resin was to avoid the rising metal costs. But not that the minis are resin, the details are better so they can charge even more?

I don't get it. Looks like I'm sticking to plastics then.

Moving

Well, not too much happening lately. Have most of my things packed up for the big move in June. Pretty excited as I will be getting a dedicated war gaming space.

I painted a Dark Elf warrior with spear today!
I went to my local Games Workshop and had a tutorial to mass produce a large amount of Dark elves troops relatively quickly.

Pictures to follow.

Reinforcements

Yesterday, I received Ungrim Ironfist. I think I'll use him as my Battle Standard Bearer as he comes with a back banner.

Today I got 15 Long Drong Pirate Slayers. They came painted. I was worried as I already have 10 painted pirate slayers but they look like they will match up pretty well.

First Warhammer Game In a While

Yesterday, I played my first Warhammer game in over 12 years.
My Slayers against my friend Will's beastmen.
The purpose was to learn the base mechanics of the game (again)
My slayers were slaughtered in true slayer fashion but they took a whole lot of beastmen with them. Pretty fun. Really wish I had some armour saves tho.

Holiday Arrivals

Just got my 25 Painted Dwarf slayers + command and Garagrim Ironfist in the mail.
Things are looking up.
The slayers are painted in a different style them I'm used to but they look great.
I also managed to paint 5 slayers to a basic war-games standard, and everyone else is primed or has flesh painted.

Merry Christmas to all!

Addicted to ebay (Again)

Well, it usually comes in phases.
Just won another bid.
15 Pirate Slayers w/ Long Drong and a musician and standard.
Painted! For the cost of a new box of 10.

All I need is the Goblin Hewer and my army is DONE!

But I'm not gonna worry about that until I get some painting done.

25 dwarf strong slayer unit incl. command.

I want to add 15 Pirate Slayers incl Long Drong+ command
Malakai Makaisson's Goblin Hewer.
